Official Opening of our Facility

Press Release:

John

Tuesday 13th July 2010…Victorian Premier John Brumby joined forces with one of Victoria’s oldest biscuit manufacturers Unibic today in a call to arms for Victorian businesses to keep thinking global.

The premier led the official opening of Unibic’s new world class facility in Broadmeadows, in a show of public support for Victoria’s largest remaining biscuit manufacturer, following the divestment of all other major players.

In his speech Mr Brumby said, “Australia is the best country in the world for food manufacturing, with our space, climate and raw materials.  However we are still yet to make a truly significant mark on international markets.  Victoria in particular is a food bowl so it is vital that we throw our full support behind local manufacturers and showcase their exporting success stories to encourage others.  Unibic is a prime example of a small Victorian company from humble beginnings expanding its customer base across Asia, North America and Europe.”

Unibic’s Managing Director Michael Quinn said, “Today’s event was about bringing together the leading lights of Victoria to show the rest of Australia and the world the significant impact Victorian industry and innovation does and can make on a global playing field.”

Quinn continues, “Few biscuit brands have ever achieved success outside of their own domestic markets due to consumer loyalty for brands they have grown up with.  However we have seen first hand that consumers worldwide value the very qualities that Victoria stands for – fresh ingredients, with minimal processing and artificial additives.  Victoria holds the recipe for international success in its hands.”
